Off-Campus
Accommodaton

On-campus dormitory may fill up fairly quickly due to limited availability and most students shall find individual accommodations off-campus. The monthly rent for off-campus accommodation is about 4000,000~500,000 krw a month(200,000~250,000krw if shared by two students). Students can share a room with friends to save living expenses. Assistance will be provided to students finding accommodations located 15 to 30 minutes from school by subway.

Health
Insurance

Student Health Insurance Plan : We recommend signing up for insurance especially for students who will be studying in Korea for over 6 months. *Yearly insurance premium rates range 250,000 to 600,000 krw according to one's age.

Club
Activities

After-school clubs such as a pronunciation club, a K-Pop club, and a conversation club are available for all Korean language students. A program entitled “Jak Kung(Buddy)” provides the opportunity for students to participate in activities that may help to build friendship with Korean volunteer students. Anyone student may join.

Scholarships

A “General Scholarship” of 300,000 krw (per term) could be awarded to qualified students who have achieved excellent grades (i.e. a score of 90 or above in all areas of study with an attendance rate of 90% or above throughout the term). Other scholarships will be granted to qualified students according to the University policy.

Special Programs

Short-term courses for those residing in Korea
Special Korean language courses(evening program) are available and designed for E-2 teachers, businessmen, employees and anyone who cannot participate in the regular intensive program due to their daytime work. It focuses on enhancing communication proficiency.
Customized Korean courses, based on requests, are designed to private businesses or a Diplomatic Missions in Korea, or any group of foreigners to cater to one's organizational or professional needs. Course lengths can be shortened or extended to meet student's needs. Additional components or themes can be incorporated into a course to fit one's learning objectives. We also provide courses at one's own location of organization if preferred.
The purpose of The TOPIK preparatory class is to help foreign students to achieve higher scores in TOPIK(Test Of Proficiency in Korean) and successfully obtain admissions to Korean universities.

    required for admission of Korean Universities.

 They will learn basic vocabulary words related to campus and Korean life.

Level 2

A student will be able to use words of function in an appropriate way. They will also be able to simple order services, make a request or an offer.

Intermediate
Level

Level 3

A student will be able to form a sentence related to a slightly complicated daily subject.
 They will also be able to understand and use tense and expression properly.

Level 4

A student will be able to explain an environmental situation properly. They will also be able to use various vocabulary words to describe a matter of common interest.

Advanced
Level

Level 5

student will be able to express their opinion about abstract situations. They will also be able to understand Korean proverbs, expressions and idioms and form sentences correctly using honorific descriptors.

Level 6

A student will be able to write a newspaper account or official document. They will also be able  to comprehend university-level lectures.

 

Do I have to apply for a whole year or can I apply to attend for one semester?

  A

- The normal course divided into four semesters - Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Students from China, Mongolia, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian nations must register for the entire year. People who have a visa can register for one semester at a time. Differences exist in the nature and structure of required documents, based on nation of origin. Before submitting documents, please contact the Admissions office by telephone (82+32-835-9381/9582) or email at caiyuan@incheon.ac.kr or uikorean@incheon.ac.kr in order to verify that the documents that you intend to submit contain the required information.

 

I am studying Korean language at other school but want to study at Incheon Korean language studies institute. What kind of documents shall I prepare?

  A

- The students studying at another school may register for our course if their attendance rate is over 80%.TThe documents which you shall prepare are the completed application form, a passport, an alien registration card, proof of the current language school enrollment. Please include the period of attendance and the attendance rate, official transcript for total period, bank account statement showing a minimum balance in the amount of 3,000,000 won and two photos. You will have to pay the tuition fee for a minimum of two semesters. You will also have to pay a commission for changing schools and charges associated with getting a visa extension.

 

How do I extend a language training visa(D-4-4)?

  A

- The D-4-4 visa can be extended for a maximum of two years while enrolled in the course. During the period, tuition fees must be current and your registration in the course must be active. Extending a visa with proof of enrollment at must be completed at the Incheon Immigration Office. You will have to pay a commission. If the student’s attendance rate is not above 80% or the the student is not maintaining a passing grade, a visa extension request may be denied.

 

What are the advantages for a student of the University of Incheon to take the Korean language course?

  A

-  If a student of University of Incheon or the graduate school elects to study the Korean language in our course, there is a 50-percent discount off the list price. A student can improve their ability to speak Korean through the Study Class or TOPIK Preparation Class. Also, if a student does not major in Korean and enrolls in our course, the credits can be transferred.

 

I am a Korean student and I want to apply to participate in the "Jjag-ggoong" buddy program for helping international students. What is the process?

  A

-The Jjag-ggoong is a buddy program for helping international students. We select Korean students approximately two to three weeks before the start of the regular course. The students of Univ. of Incheon who feel that they are qualified may apply to participate in the "Jjag-ggoong" program.
